This project in Adobe Photoshop Elements is a collaboration between our technology class and the art class. The art students will be creating a self portrait using the digitally enhanced images that our class will create.
The first step is to take a digital picture of the art class students and upload them to our computers.
Pictures should be mostly of the head and neck with very little if any shoulder. Picture quality must be clear, and the lighting should be natural. The background on the picture needs to be a monochromatic as possible so it doesn't distract from the subject of the picture which is the person in it. Look at the examples. Which one best meets the criteria listed?
Now that the picture has been taken you need to upload it to the computer you will be working at.
1. Make sure your camera is turned off.
2. Attach your camera to the computer using the usb ports on the front of the unit and the cable your teacher provides you.
3. Turn the camera on and wait for a window to open which displays the images on the camera.
4. Select the image you want to import to the computer by checking the box next to the image.
(Be sure you uncheck any boxes with images you will not use. This saves disc space on the computer.)
5. Choose 'Yes' when asked if you want to delete images from the camera.
(This clears the camera for the next user.)
6. Watch the tutorial below to edit your image so it is ready for the art class to use.
